S&C Concludes 5-Year Total Control System Makeover

S&C has concluded a five-year, multistage total control system makeover at an ethylene plant that included both process and turbomachinery control engineering. This makeover resulted in a fully integrated control system with a centralized HMI. S&C managed all aspects of the automation and safety system design, upgrade, logic development, training, and startup.

This project included surge prevention and process control application development and commissioning for a centrifugal ethylene compressor and a propylene compressor. Simultaneous operations, change management, and scheduling were factors to the success of this project.

S&C completed the handover to operations without incident or LPO.
